Review by Sarah
Storm Rising is a book that will appeal to young adults and adults alike.
I have to say I wasn’t to sure after reading the description whether it would be my kind of book but I am so glad I decided to give it a go as I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The story flicks between 2005 which is the present time and ten years earlier in the past. The story mainly focuses on Abi (Abigail) and to certain events in her past that have led her to where she is in the present.
I really liked Abi as due to her circumstances she has had to be strong. In her younger days she certainly is your typical teen. Her best friend Judy is also a really great character and I don’t think anyone could ask for a better best friend than her.
After the death of Abi’s mum, certain things come to light which turns her whole world upside down.
Storm Rising I found to be a strong and steady read that, even though I kind of guessed which way the story was heading, I very much enjoyed the ride that the author took me on. There is actually going to be a sequel to this book which is due out this month and I for one will certainly be looking forward to it.
I think younger adults will certainly be able to relate to the main characters especially when they were younger as well as bring back memories for adults that are slightly older to what it felt like to be that age again. As a parent myself and having a daughter similar age to Abi when she was younger, parts of the story are certainly very thought provoking.
