Excerpt from Practising for Christmas:
Adam glanced at her, amusement in his eyes. “Do you really not know how to light a fire?”
Feeling mortified, she shook her head silently and looked away. “No. Afraid not. I’ve never lived in a house with a fire before. Even when I was a kid. How useless am I? I wouldn’t survive very well in the wild.”
Adam placed another log on the fire and laughed. “Well neither would I if I can’t even keep my feet on a slippery rock.” He glanced over his shoulder at her. “We make a good team actually. I can keep us warm and you can keep us healthy. Your first aid skills would be very useful in the wild.”
Olivia watched him as he tended the fire and thought of the many ways he could keep her warm, none of which involved the lighting of a fire. She stifled a smile, and turned away pretending to examine one of the cushions. He really was extremely attractive, and his proximity was quite distracting.
